This is one of Tasha Newton's lessons that I lovvvvved. First, we watched a youtube clip of an elephant painting a picture of an elephant. Then when the kids said they couldn't draw an elephant we could say, "Even an elephant can draw an elephant!" We started off drawing the elephants. Then we used washable black markers to outline and add wrinkles. Next, we dipped our brushes in water and wet our elephants. This caused the washable marker to spread and turn the elephant grey while softening the look of the wrinkles. We then retraced the elephant with a black marker. Then we began working on our background. We added stripes and a ground. Lastly, we added details to the elephant such as hats, balls, hoops, gems, etc.
