Our Monthly Featured Artist Devon Calvert is big on sharing his student's art on social media. He has created a blog, Mr. Calvert’s Art Room Happenings (http://devoncalvert.weebly.com/), where he showcases artwork from his students in kindergarten through third grade. He also showcases his students’ works on Twitter (@MrCalvertArt). Open communication is the key to Devon’s success. Making himself available – along with showing off his students’ work – makes the world of Art even more enjoyable.

Our featured artist, Devon Calvert, is originally from the little town of Fennimore, Wisconsin in the southwest corner of the state. He grew up with two younger brothers and loving parents who embraced the crazy idea that he go into Art Education.

Devon always knew he wanted to be a teacher. His first thoughts were to go the social studies route, but after a couple of art classes in senior year he found himself more and more addicted to art, and overnight his path changed. These days, teaching K-3 in Milton gives him the opportunity to pass the excitement along to his students.

Our Featured Artist for the month of April is Devon Calvert, a Harmony and Consolidated Elementary Art Teacher in Milton, WI. Devon teaches K-3, and loves every minute of it. Devon has worked in ceramics, painting, graphic design, printmaking, sculpture and more, making him a perfectly well rounded teacher for young aspiring artists. A UW-Eau Claire graduate, Devon is also a WAEA Membership Chair.
